Here's the picture of the exhaust parts I
picked up so far. I'm picking up a 10ft. straight pipe along with
2 90 degree bends from Napa on Monday. This is a 3"
Turbo Muffler, 3" Vibrant Performance Resonator, 3"
Flex Pipe and (4) 3" Fange adaptors.
3"
Exhaust from the turbo all the way back. This baby is gonna
breath! Stay tuned, I'll probably post more pictures tonight. 08/24/08 Been
working on it all weekend. But, taking my time and making sure I
don't miss anything and that everything broken down has been
logged and placed in paper bags properly labeled. You know why.
Anyway, I removed my Trans and Oil pan. Dropped the old block off
on blocks, picked up and mounted my new block on the engine
stand. I bolted up the cylinder head with the ARP studs,
installed the Crane 14 cams and that's about it. Here's a picture

Here's the picture of the 3" direct
bolt stainless steel exhaust by Borla. Haven't done much work on
the car lately because of the heat but, it's starting to cool
down so I can get back at it.
Check
back soon. 10/18/08 Here's the
picture of the Clutchmasters aluminum flywheel. I'll be
installing the 6.25qt aluminum oil pan tomorrow and tear the
transmission apart and install the LSD. Stay tuned. The torque
specs are 70 ft. lbs. of torque for the flywheel bolts. If you
look at the hollow dowel to the left of the flywheel, there is a
slot right next to it. I put a screwdriver in there and wedged it
between the teeth in order to get to the 70 lbs.. It was a pain
but it's done and time to move forward.
Here's the
picture of the timing belt installed with my Fidanza cam gears
and the outer cover with the cutout for easy access to the cam
gears. Yes it's upside down because I'll be installing my oil pan
tomorrow. Stay tuned.
10/26/08 Here's
the pictures of the Fidanza pressure plate and clutch bolted up
to the Clutchmasters aluminum flywheel. As well as the OBX
6.25qt. oil pan bolted in.
Here's
the steering knuckles with the new hubs with the studs already
pressed in.
11/15/08
Here's the tranny apart. Yeah, my first
time seeing the inside myself. I was surprised as soon I got it
separated. The Differential gear was right on top! (Take note:
This is Cast aluminum so always use a rubber dead blow hammer to
separate the two pieces, if you use a regular metal hammer you
run the risk of cracking the housing. Don't do it.) I just pulled
it out. I went down to Advanced Auto and they had the bearings
and seals in stock. On Monday I'll drop off my LSD and get the
bearings pressed on. Getting close to being able to drop in my
new engine! =) Here's the picture. Stay tuned.
11/30/08
Check it out. It's the Nitrous Express Intercooler spray kit. I
got a great deal on it so I couldn't pass it up. =)
12/31/08
Finally got the LSD all together. Breaking
the bolts loose was a pain in the rear. Had to hold a 13mm wrench
on the next bolt then, use a breaker bar with an extension to
break them loose. Fun stuff. Here's the picture. The nylon gear
is for the speedometer.
01/14/09
Here's the picture of the P2R Vacuum Block. Very nice quality.
02/17/09
This is the Turbo XS Dual Stage Boost controller. Got it off
E-Bay for 180.00 bucks. New and never installed. =)
Royal Purple is a brand I've come to trust and
will only buy for my Neon. It's been proven to reduce heat,
friction and increase Horse Power. It's a little more expensive
but, when you count all the money you've invested in your motor?
it's a no brainer.
Stay
Tuned. 03/22/09
Here's 3 pictures of my engine/tranny and turbo ready to go in.

I
will have it dropped back in the car next weekend. Stay
tuned. 03/29/09
Here's the picture of the engine in. Notice
how I had to separate the turbo to get it in. I'll be back at it
tomorrow after riding my CR125R for a bit. Stay tuned.
04/11/09 Here's
the shifter bushings installed.
Stage
III Drive Shaft Shop Axles installed. Had to hone out the LSD
just a bit for the fit. The outside nuts are 36mm. Going to buy a
socket tomorrow. That's going to be hard to find. wish me luck
(more 1 time use stuff to buy!) LOL.
05/03/09
Here's the valve cover and intake picture.
Not bolted up yet. Just wanted to see it. All I can say is "Sweeeeet!" 05/23/09
Here's the new brakes installed with the
slotted and drilled rotors.
Here's my MillerMatic 140 with Autoset. I love
this welder.
05/27/09
Here's the picture Hahn Racecraft 20g T3
Turbo Manifold. Well worth the money. It's very well made (me
being a machinist I give it an A+) turbo manifold. It's thick
everywhere and the Tig welds rock. The T3 flange is in the center
where it has to be. The other 2 manifolds I had were left and
right plus the one was too close to the firewall. Being in the
center of the head will allow room on both sides for the exhaust
and intake on the 20G Turbo. Here's the picture. Can't wait to
mount this and finish this way over due build.
08/10/09
Here's the picture of the internal
wastegate moved. I'll get everything bolted up later this week
and start the plumbing.
08/16/09
Here's the pictures of the turbo all bolted
up with the 1st manifold I tried. I'll be taking offers on the
Hahn Manifold if anyone is interested. 3 pictures here so you can
see how I'll be running the intercooler pipes. Next I have to mod
my cooling fan shrouds to fit the Griffon Aluminum radiator.
Check back soon.

08/17/09
Here's the pictures of the fan shroud mod
and the intake manifold bolted up. The radiator is only temporarily
in place as I have to attach the lower radiator hose first before
doing the final install. (It's alot easier that way).
Doesn't
fit so it's time for some dremel work. These have steel inserts
molded into them so watch yourself.
Much
better! The bottom washers have the I.D. big enough to fit around
the O.D. of the radiator threaded studs. (I.D. =Inside diameter)
(O.D.= Outside diameter).

Sweet.
Losing
engine compartment space fast! DOH! LOL. The wire harness looks a
mess but, I'll be taking care of all that soon. =P. 03/28/10 Gone
is the big can muffler. I bought a Magnaflow performance muffler
with a 3" intake and (2) 2 1/2" outlets left and right
side. Anyone looking to buy a 3" Borla muffler? Make me an
offer.
Showing
where the Borla 3" muffler was. Taking offers. You can
partially see the Magnaflow in the top right.
The
Borla 3".
Elbow
with the O2 bung welding in along with the 3" 3 bolt flange.
The
new Magnaflow performance muffler part#:53083. That's the 3"
inlet and there's (2) 2 1/2" outlet so I can keep the same
look as Vibrant muffler that I had before. I was sick all weekend
so next weekend I should have the exhaust completely welded up.
Stay tuned. 04/02/10
Here's the picture of the Vibrant
Performance resonator welded into place. I cut the front half of
the Borla exhaust in half and welded the resontator in place. The
beads are looking a lot better, I'm really getting used to the
welding techniques. This resonator will quiet the exhaust
and keep that nice deep tone that I like. Going to hear the turbo
spooling up over this exhaust but still have the flow and
performance that you'd get with a straight through muffler.
This is the 3" 409 Stainless Steel mandrel bent tubing I
bought to help finish the exhaust off. This is tough metal, my 14
amp abrasive saw is having a tough time with it. Going to keep
working through this 3 day Holiday weekend. Happy Easter
everyone. Stay tuned!
04/04/10
This is the clutch cable. Remember! Modern
Performance sells this for 50.00 cheaper.
This is how the boost piping will most likely be ran.
Fuel Rail installed with the injectors.
Sat the valve cover on to see how she looks
again. I gotta get that stupid Napa sticker off of my radiator
hose! LOL stay tuned. To finish the exhaust I'm going have to
rent a band saw.
04/10/10
I welded the back half of the exhaust on
the car today. It took all day!. Weld, check alignment, break
weld, re-align and re-weld. blah, blah, blah. I still have to
weld the down pipe. Man, doing a custom exhaust sucks but, it'll
pay off in the end. Here's the pictures from today including one
of myself since it's been a while. Stay tuned. Hopefully
I'll get the down pipe welded together tomorrow. I included a
shot that show's off the scheme of the engine very nicely.
My
Millermatic 140 Mig welder. I can't say enough about this welder.
It Rocks!!

Not
the best welds in the world but, they'll hold.
Here
it is welded together.
Dual
exhaust look with the performance of a straight through design.
Me,
all dirty trying to get this thing done!
Here's
the shot with the lighting. You can see how good she looks. Man,
you have to see her in person! -Rich
