Well, it isn't over until the fat lady sings. Yes, I'm adding another build. What am I after? More power of coarse. The main problem (handicap) of the build so far has been the stock rods. So since I'm going to add Eagle H-Beams, I might as well go .020 over on the bore right? =P.

Here's some pics of what's new and coming:

JE Pistons .020 over 8:8 to 1 compression.

Eagle H-Beam Rods. So I can crank up the boost to it's limit of the 16G turbo.

AGP wastegate actuator. It runs stock at 14lbs. of boost. Installing it and getting it re-dynode down at Racerelated tomorrow at 3:00. =P

Here it is installed. Can't wait for tomorrow.

Saw this on E-Bay and couldn't resist. LOL.

Stay tuned! -Rich

04/21/07

Just got back from the Dyno at Racerelated   . My car pulled 241 HP and 234 Ft. Lbs. of Torque at the wheels. The car peaked at 15 lbs. of boost. I'm still shaking from the ride home =P. Here's the sheet.

04/22/07

Picked up a spare Block from my friend Allen. I call him NeonMart. Because he has everything and I'm not joking. Here's a pic of the block. He cut me a good deal for 50.00. Thanks Allen! Going to drop it off and have everything done to it in 2 weeks. So stay tuned.

05/17/07

Well, here's the surprise =). I've decided to up the power of my car even more with this purchase. It's a T3 Exhaust manifold for the SRT-4 with a 35/38mm wastegate flange. So I'm probably going to go with the Mitsubishi 20G or Super 20G. Here's 2 pictures. Check back soon.

Here's the T3 flange.

This is the wastegate flange. Check back soon. -Rich

Say hello to my little friend!! Well, not so little. This is my new Mitsubishi 20G Turbo. Never installed, never used. I got it from NeonMart (aka Alan) from Floridaneons.org. I'll be pumping 25lbs. of boost with this and from what Alan said (He knows my build of the engine) , I should hit 400hp at the wheels with this new toy muhahahaaha! Here's the pictures! Stay tuned, I'm doing the swap on the 4th of July. I get the whole week off from work. Update see below.

That's the intake side. See the Mitsubishi symbol. Not a knock off.

This is the Exhaust Turbine. This is Sooooo much bigger than the 16G.

Mounted on the manifold.

Second view. Stay tuned!!! The beast will be unleashed July 4th week! Woohoo!

-Rich

This is a backup manifold in case I have clearance issues with the new manifold. This is cast iron and made for the 420A. Here's the pic. Stay tuned.

Been a while since I posted. I've decided that since I'm doing all this work to get the tranny ready for what's to come. This is my first purchase towards addressing the issue. Straight from Modern Performance, here's the Clutch Masters Aluminum Flywheel for the 95 neon and The Fidanza 5.4 High Performance clutch rated at 450 HP. Here's the pics:

This Clutch Masters Flywheel is built very well. This is 11lbs. lighter than the stock flywheel and will let the engine rev up faster, spool the turbo faster and add more HP. =P . If you have a 96 to 99 neon with a modular clutch you can buy a 95 flywheel (stock if you like) so you can buy just a regular clutch like the one I bought below this. It's a heck of a lot cheaper!

This is the Fidanza 5.4 Clutch rated at 450hp. It's made from Kevlar. I have to break it in for 700 city miles to properly burnish it.

So what's next?? $1,000.00 Drive Shaft Shop Stage III axles from Modern Performance and the $1,195.00 Quaife Limited Slip Differential. Like my Dad used to say "If your going to build it, build it right!". So this is quickly turning into an expensive build. I figure by the end of it when it's done it'll be around 6 grand. Check back soon

11/03/07

Here's the picture of the Crane 14's from Alan. Stay tuned.

11/09/07

Here's the picture of my new Griffin Aluminum Radiator. Check back soon.

11/30/07

Here's the picture of the Driveshaft Shop Stage III axles from Modern Performance. Notice the Mean Green Boots on the outside? =P Stay Tuned!

12/04/07

Here's the picture of my Nitto Drag Radials that came in today. Very nice, should get the job done at the track.

12/08/07

Here's the picture of the OBX Limited Slip Differential. The stock spring washers are the weak point of the OBX. Luckily there's a dealer on www.neons.org that sells a replacement set that won't break. I already ordered them. I'll post the pics this coming week.

12/15/07

Here's the picture of the block bored .020 over and hot tanked. Like night and day of the picture above of the block when I bought it.

1/02/08

Here's the picture of my OBX Differential apart. The washers are now replaced with ones that won't break. This picture shows the basic guts of it. Still waiting on my ARP Studs to come in so I can get this thing built.

1/04/08

Here's the picture of the ARP Studs and Bolts. Check back soon!

2/04/08

Here's the pictures of the Hahn Racecraft 3" Universal 20G Turbo down pipe kit. It's very well made. This runs for about $250.00.

This is the kit by itself:

Here it is bolted up. Well worth the money. This will make getting the custom 3" exhaust made much easier. =)

2/09/08

Got the crank installed after picking it up from getting micro finished on the journals. Checked the oil bearing clearance, all was good. The ARP stud kits are going to make this one nice bottom end. My little corner work area.

Here's the crank all bolted in and torqued down to 70 ft. lbs. on the 11mm and 22 ft. lbs on the 8mm per ARP. The crank spins nice and free with no binding.

3/03/08

Got the Rod and Piston assemblies in. Checked all the rings for proper gap clearance, all looked good. Here's the pics.

Here's the top view.

Here's the bottom.

4/13/08

Here's my new Mellings High Volume Oil pump and new water pump installed. I sandblasted the crank gear to clean it up. For easy installation I heated up the gear with a torch. Then when it was hot enough just tapped it on.

Here's the crank rear seal.

6/05/08

Here's 2 pics of what's been going on. I got my Intake manifold, Valve Cover and Fuel Rail Powder Coated in Wilder Red. I Also have a pic of the oil and coolant line kit I purchased for the 20G Turbo. I'm shooting for June 30th to have this all together and back at the Dyno then the 1/8th mile track. Stay tuned people. Crunch time is a coming.

The picture above doesn't do it justice. Gotta see it in person =P.

Oil line and Coolant lines. Switching everything to AN fittings on the car. Gonna look sweet in the end. =). Stay tuned people. Sorry about the delay but My daily driver needed some work.

6/22/08

Got it up in the air, axles pulled out, intake off, radiator and fans out, a/c condenser out (and staying out) and everything else removed or hung over the side (wiring harness, etc.) Here's the pictures.

Axles out. The long shaft one had a split boot. Freaking grease was everywhere =(. Going to have to clean all that crap up before the re-install of the engine.

Everything is off the front. Gotta disconnect the backside connections of the harness, disconnect the exhaust and disconnect the trans shift cables, etc. This is a lot of work.

Now that's jacked! =P

I bought a spare door to practice painting on because I plan on painting the entire car myself. Since I had a spare door lining I figured I'd try out that new Dupli-Color Vinyl paint. It's made to flex with heat and so on and won't crack or chip. Used high gloss black and does it look good.  Going to do the whole inside like this. Just make sure to prep the plastic well. You can buy the prep can cleaner along with the paint at your local auto parts store.

6/30/08

Well, it was a pain in the ass but, the old engine is out. Here's 2 pictures. Gotta clean all this crap up. Stay tuned, I hope I get this all done. Here's the pictures.

Here's the 2nd picture.

Stay tuned. Going to be busy all week!

7/02/08

This is taking way longer than I imagined. I got into a war with my MPX underdrive pulley. I won. MPX didn't fair so well. Ordered a new pulley. So, this won't get completed this week. I'm officially stating that I won't give anymore timelines to get things accomplished. Here's the picture of the MPX that didn't want to comply.
